A House of Representatives hopeful for Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituency, Lawal Abass Oyebade popularly known as Slim, has urged political leaders to motivate the younger generation through good performance and quality representation rather than oppression and tokenism.
Speaking on his political aspiration, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain said true leadership should be about setting a positive example in honesty, accountability, and service delivery, rather than creating a system where young people are made to beg for crumbs or worship politicians.
According to him, “Our political leaders must be role models who inspire confidence through their performance and impact, not those who suppress upcoming leaders or expect them to bootlick. We need a change in the mindset of leadership.”
Lawal stated that his decision to contest for the House of Representatives seat was driven by a strong passion to challenge the status quo and contribute meaningfully to the transformation of his constituency and the nation at large.
He explained that he had been contributing to community development in his pers Lawal Abass Against Marginality and Poverty (LAMP) but believed that holding a public office would enable him to do more by facilitating infrastructure and attracting federal presence to Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituency.
Lawal added that his ultimate goal is to give his people a strong and respected voice at the national level while promoting youth inclusion, empowerment, and responsive governance.
