In a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully rescued four kidnapped victims, neutralised three armed suspects, and recovered millions of naira in ransom money following coordinated operations in Enugu and Ogun States.

In Enugu State, on July 16, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., police operatives—acting on a distress call—swiftly responded to reports of armed kidnappers sighted in the Okpuje-Ani community forest in Nsukka Local Government Area.
During the ensuing engagement, one of the suspects was neutralised, while others fled with gunshot wounds. An AK-47 rifle loaded with two live rounds of ammunition was recovered at the scene.
Later that same day, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Aliyu Adamu, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. Interrogation revealed that Adamu was recruited from Awka, Anambra State, and had participated in multiple kidnapping operations in Enugu.
In a related operation, on July 15, 2025, at about 2:20 p.m., the Enugu State Police Command arrested two female suspects, Juliet Chukwu (39) and Nancy Chukwu (40), while sharing a ₦10 million ransom. The funds were reportedly paid for the release of their kinsman, whom they had conspired to abduct after demanding an initial ₦50 million.
Meanwhile, in Ogun State, police operatives also recorded a major success, neutralising two kidnappers and arresting others during a daring raid on their hideout. Firearms, mobile phones, and other incriminating evidence were recovered, while the kidnapped victims were safely reunited with their families.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, praised the gallantry and professionalism of the officers involved. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to rooting out violent crime, particularly kidnapping, through intelligence-led and community-driven strategies.
He also urged the public to continue collaborating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist ongoing operations nationwide.
