The Kebbi State Police Command has revealed that one of its officers rejected a bribe of ₦1,060,000 offered by suspects attempting to compromise an ongoing investigation.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, and made available to the media on Tuesday.

According to the statement, “On January 13, 2025, at about 1800hrs, Umaru Garba, aged 53, from Dangandu village; Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji Mamman, aged 51, from Maimaichi village, both in Arewa LGA; and Usman Muhammadu, aged 50, from Bakaramba village in Argungu LGA, conspired and offered the sum of ₦1,060,000 to the Command’s lead investigator at the premises of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.”

The bribe, according to the police, was intended to influence the investigation and prosecution of a banditry case allegedly involving suspected Lakurawa terrorists operating in the northern part of the state.

He reiterated the Command’s resolve to combat banditry and other serious crimes to enhance socio-economic stability in Kebbi State.
