The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) will commence enforcement of the electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) system within the next 14 days, starting from July 29, 2024.

The e-CMR is an advanced, real-time online repository of motor vehicle data designed to support police investigations, operations, and combat vehicle-related crimes.

According to a statement signed the Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the transition to the e-CMR system will streamline processes for vehicle ownership changes, such as change of ownership, license number, engine, and chassis/body.

He added that the e-CMR will enhance the ability to track and recover stolen vehicles and prevent the purchase of stolen vehicles by innocent buyers.

“Vehicle owners and users are urged to obtain the digitalized CMR certificate online at https://cmris.npf.gov.ng and contact the designated support centers for further inquiries.

“The NPF is committed to leveraging technology and strategic approaches to enhance public safety and national security through the enforcement of the e-CMR system.

“All vehicle owners and users are encouraged to embrace and comply with this initiative promptly for optimum safety and security.”
