The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has written to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, expressing serious concern over what it described as a pattern of assigning all its cases—whether filed by or against the party—to only three judges of the Abuja Judicial Division.

In a letter dated 19 November 2025, signed by the National Secretary, H.E. Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, the PDP said that for several years, all matters involving the party at the Federal High Court, Abuja, had been consistently handled by Justice James Omotosho, Justice Peter Odo Lifu, and Justice Abdulmalik, despite the division having 12 judges.
The party said the situation had raised suspicion and deep apprehension among its members and leaders, especially the newly elected National Working Committee and National Executive Committee.
According to the letter, several PDP members see the three courts as “courts of particular concern” regarding cases affecting the party’s interest, a perception the party believes could undermine public confidence in the judiciary.
The PDP stressed that while it has no doubts about the integrity of the Federal High Court or its judges, justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done by reasonable members of the public.
With many internal and external legal challenges anticipated in the coming months, the party pleaded that cases involving it should henceforth be randomly assigned to any of the 12 judges of the Abuja Division, and not limited to the three previously mentioned.
The party urged Justice Tsoho to intervene to allay fears of bias and ensure equitable distribution of cases to maintain trust in the judicial process.
The PDP concluded the letter by reaffirming its respect for the judiciary and confidence in the Chief Judge’s leadership.
