Four Aspirants for the Oyo State House of Assembly on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party in Ido local government area have insisted that Party leadership conduct a free and fair primary rather than impose a candidate through a questionable consensus arrangement.
The Aspirants who addressed pressmen after the meeting they had noted that it will be unfair on them for the party leadership in Ido local government to impose a candidate, Speaking on behalf of the other aspirants Hon. Sunday Ojedele said he and other aspirants are completely against plans to impose the present house member Hon. Mabaje Razak, stressing that it not acceptable to them, he said the act is likely to cause disaffection in the Party.
Speaking further, Ojedele said ” If Hon.Razak had done very well, there will be no need to impose him, he advised that he should be allowed to come out and contest a free and fair Primary, and if he wins, they will all unanimously support him, but to force him on us is not Democratic”.
Hon. Olanipekun Gafar Ojimi, one of the aspirants who also spoke at the press briefing, remarked that ” Imposing the serving House member who many have acknowledged has performed woefully is against the principle of democracy and what Governor Seyi Makinde stands for.” He said
Also speaking in the same vein Hon Kazeem Oyepeju and Steven Adedayo Fapetu also reiterate what their colleagues said, noting that they stand against Imposition and call on party leaders to do what is right. They also call on governor Makinde to ensure that the principles of democracy is upheld in Ido local government area.
It will be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde had in a meeting with party leaders last week told them to seek amicable modalities in chosing candidates for the Party.
Earlier Hon. Sunday Ojedele had expressed sincere gratitude to Hon. Adeola Adesina, a two term chairman of Ido local government, and also a two term member of the Oyo state house of assembly, and other leaders in Ido local government who so far have taken side with fairness and equity in demanding that primaries should be held.
He also expressed his gratitude to all ward Chairmen, all youth and women leaders in Ido local government who are standing strongly against the planned Imposition of Hon. Mabaje Razak.
The house of assembly aspirants who were present at the press briefing included Hon. Olanipekun Gafar Ojimi, Hon. Kazeem Oyepeju, Hon Ojedele Sunday kashimawo and Hon. Steven Adedayo fapetu.
