The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to chair a seven-member committee tasked with ensuring a peaceful and successful National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for May 27, as well as the party’s forthcoming national convention.
The decision was announced at a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum held at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge. The meeting, which brought together both serving and former governors, focused on addressing the party’s internal challenges and setting a strategic course for its future.
In a statement following the meeting, Saraki confirmed his appointment and expressed readiness to work with other members of the committee to deliver on the assignment.
“I just left a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge. As part of the decisions taken to chart a way forward, a seven-man committee was set up to prepare for a rancour-free NEC meeting and national convention. I will have the pleasure of leading the committee,” Saraki said.
Other members of the committee include Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Governor Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Governor Peter Mba (Enugu), Senator Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), and former Abia State Governor, Chief Okezie Ikpeazu.
The committee is expected to play a key role in fostering unity within the party and ensuring smooth proceedings at the upcoming NEC meeting and convention.
