The Oyo State Youth Parliament said it is resolved to collaborate with the newly installed Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Laoye, Orumogege III to ensure that 25years development plan of the monarch is sufficiently driven by massive Youth empowerment and employability skill-up trainings.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ogbomoso caucus of the Youth Parliamentarians, Hon. Joshua Ojo Aderemi J’Icon who is also the member Representing Oriire State Constituency gave the hint on Saturday, 7th of Oct. 2023 while addressing newsmen shortly after a courtesy call of the caucus to the Palace housing one of the most prestigious thrones in the Yorubaland, Soun of Ogbomosoland.
Ojo said; _“As a carefully-structured Youth group organized and inaugurated by the State Government, we pleaded for his open-door policy and a genuine alignment with the 25years developmental actionable-plan the Imperial Majesty is preparing to pass to our dear Governor, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde very soon.”_
Also while speaking, the secretary of the caucus – Hon. Timothy Oyabamiji WHYTE who is the member representing Ogooluwa/Surulere State Constituency said; _“We are here to congratulate our Royal father His imperial majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Laoye, Orumogege III on the ascension to the throne of his ancestors.”_
_“Kabiesi, putting in considerations his background and international exposure, we are much confidence that Ogbomosland is so lucky to have him and will consequently witness a Devine developmental turnarounds.”_
_“Finally, we wish him a successful reign.”_
In his own reaction, the brand new monarch warmly received the visitors and tasks them on returning back soon to the Palace with well-articulated actionable agenda to skill-up hundreds and thousands unemployed Ogbomoso Youths to make them employable and rescue them from street roaming. He promised to work with them and other well-meaning groups in the ancient city of brave warriors.
Leadership of other Youth group including National Youth Council of Nigeria-Ogbomoso zone among others were also part of the entourage who escorted the Parliamentarians to the Palace.
The Chairman and vice Chairman of the caucus, Hons. Adebayo Isaac and Adeleke John who were also members representing Ogbomoso North and South State Constituencies were adequately represented at the meeting.
Oyo State Youth Parliament is a Government-structured and inaugurated non-political Youth Assembly from all the 32 State Constituencies of the Oyo State under the tutelage of the Oyo State House of Assembly (OYHA), directly under the Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, a non-partisan umbrella body for the State Youths created in Compliance with the United Nation Charter on Youths Development as a platform through which youth voices could be heard on government policies that affects them directly.
