The old Oyo to Ogbomoso road is now in a state of coma and requires the needed oxygen from Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu led administration,the road serves as a nexus between the Southern and Northern parts of the country. The volume of traffic along that corridor is very high and such deserves some measures of attention from the federal government.
It is quite unfortunate that the present federal government has closed it’s eyes against the completion of the remaining less than ten Kilometers of the New Oyo to Ogbomoso Expressway which started during the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2001.
The immediate past administration of President Buhari did a lot in ensuring the delivery of the project through the use of SUKUK funds and the NNPC intervention funds that hasten the construction of the new road up till the exit of the last regime. It is quite unfortunate that the present regime has decided to abandoned such important artery for new roads,the contractor has left the site and hope of early completion of the road is gradually fading away.
The elected representative of the people in that axis have put up their best efforts in raising awareness and concerns about the state of the road but it seems the government never values the importance of Oyo to Ogbomoso road that has serves as a medium of economic interaction between the South and the North
The Ogbomoso axis is the most dilapidated part of the road,the road had consumed several souls and sent Trucks,Car’s and Bikes into the yard of iron and metal scavenger’s. The Presidency should consider the numbers of votes gotten from Oyo State and treat the road as a matter of importance and urgency
The inhabitants in that corridor may be forced to do the necessary if the government failed to release funds for the rehabilitation of the old Oyo to Ogbomoso road and the completion of the new highway in that axis.
