Sequel to the news that broke yesterday evening that the APC Governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin had a meeting with some disgruntled politicians with a view to securing their support in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, a socio-cultural group, the OYO State Professional Council has criticised the visit and described it as “an unacceptable backward movement “.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, 4th March and signed by Surv. Lukman Olawale, the Publicity Director, the Council noted that the group visited by Folarin comprised of individuals who “jointly and severally promoted the underdevelopment of Oyo State while they were playing amala politics laced with violence and deceit in their Molete political school”.

It was further noted by the Council that the “good people of Oyo State will not forget in a hurry the promotion of violence and corruption by some of these individuals which drew Oyo State backwards. Some of them collected contracts that were either not executed or badly carried out including the internal roads of the Kolapo Ishola GRA among others “

The Oyo Professional Council further noted that there is no love lost between Governor Seyi Makinde and some of the people Senator Folarin visited because the Governor has resisted their request for a return to the old days through juicy contracts and the politics of “ chop and chop”.

The group therefore called on the people of Oyo State to “reject the return of the amala politics which Folarin seeks to bring back with his friends but rather join hands with Governor Seyi Makinde who has been promoting politics of development through various projects located in different parts of the state.
