In an effort to put Nigeria name again in the Guinness world record, a group of strong youths are ready to break a 8 years standing theater performance record.
The group tagged ‘TEAM OYO’, will be performing a five days no stop stage drama which is amounted to be 100 hours to challenge the standing record of 75 hours held by America since 8 years ago.
The Creative director Olafemi George disclosed this on Thursday when the team paid a courtesy visit to Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun at his office in Ibadan.
Olafemi said the visit was meant to officially unveil the logo of the team and to get the backing of the State in the 100hours theatrical performances that will hold at the University of Ibadan and will be live-streamed on YouTube.
The Creative Director hinted that if the team succeeds in breaking the 2014 record, Oyo State will come into focal point as holding the Guinness World Record for Marathon Theater and will put Nigeria and Africa into global reckoning.
He added that the feat, if achieved will also promote the cultural identity, the history and tradition of the people, as these will be portrayed in the theatrical performances, chants, language and songs during the performances.
The commissioner, assured the team of full state government support.
His words ‘ this is a good idea and the government of ENG. Makinde would make sure its assists with all necessary amenities.
”Thank you for counting Oyo state worthy to host this grand event we won’t let you down” he added.
Present at the meeting was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Bunking Babalola, Directors and other staffers.
