The Oyo State Police Command has successfully dismantled a suspected human trafficking ring in the Kajorepo area of Akinyele Local Government Area, arresting 19 Ghanaian nationals who were reportedly lured into Nigeria under false pretenses.

According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the operation took place on July 2, 2025, following credible intelligence about suspicious activities at a secured building in Kajorepo.

The intelligence-led raid, carried out by the State Intelligence Department in collaboration with tactical teams, uncovered 14 men and five women— all young Ghanaian nationals—locked inside the building.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been deceived with fake promises of employment opportunities in Nigeria, only to be exploited by yet-to-be-identified traffickers for financial gain.

The victims have since been transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and possible repatriation to Ghana.

The Oyo State Police Command has vowed to intensify its efforts in tracking down the perpetrators of this human trafficking operation. Authorities reassured the public that calm has been restored in the area and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

For emergencies, residents are advised to contact the Oyo State Call Response Center via the toll-free number 615 or reach the police control room at 08081768614, 09054133071, or 09061299291.
