The Oyo State Police Command has announced heightened security measures across the state ahead of the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scheduled to hold on November 15 and 16 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the Command said it is fully prepared to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free gathering expected to draw top politicians, international observers, media organizations, and thousands of delegates from across Nigeria.
According to the statement, the Command has developed a comprehensive security architecture in collaboration with other security agencies. The measures include intensified surveillance, intelligence-led stop-and-search operations, and increased patrols aimed at boosting public confidence ahead of the high-profile event.
Security will be reinforced at major entry and exit routes into Oyo State, while strategic locations such as public parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan, will come under enhanced monitoring.
The police advised residents to consider alternative routes around the Adamasingba axis to avoid movement disruptions during the convention. They also issued a stern warning against unauthorized rallies, protests, or gatherings before, during, or after the event.
While assuring the public of its readiness to safeguard lives and property, the Command urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperative, and vigilant.
The statement further encouraged citizens to promptly report suspicious activities via the emergency lines: the Oyo State Call Response Center Toll-Free Line 615 or the Police Control Room numbers 08081768614, 09054133071, and 09061299291.
The release was e-signed by CSP Osifeso Adewale, mnipr, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command.
