The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from any political coalition operating under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserting that the party remains united and loyal to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
In a statement signed by the State Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the PDP clarified its stance amid growing speculation around emerging political alignments within the state and beyond.
“It has come to our notice that certain coalition forces have chosen to operate on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform. We wish to make it unequivocally clear that the PDP is not a part of this coalition and has no affiliation with their activities or objectives,” the statement read.
Alhaji Adeleke emphasized that the PDP in Oyo State remains a formidable and focused political force with clear structures and unwavering commitment to Governor Makinde’s vision.
“The PDP in Oyo State remains a united, focused, and formidable party, fully committed to the leadership and vision of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde. Our structures are intact, our direction is clear, and our loyalty is unwavering,” he stated.
The party leadership also urged local government chairmen, political office holders, elders, and party stakeholders to stay vigilant and engaged in strengthening internal unity. The statement advised leaders to promptly address concerns of party members and prevent divisions within the ranks.
“This is a crucial moment for the PDP family in Nigeria. Let us all remain united and committed to the growth and success of our great party,” Adeleke added.
The declaration comes as political movements intensify ahead of future elections, with the Oyo PDP positioning itself to maintain its dominance under Governor Makinde’s administration.
