The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, iscommencing the 50th Anniversary of its Iyaganku Press Centre, as well as the 2018 Press Week on Sunday, 7th of October, 2018 with aThanksgiving Service at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Reformation Land, Jegede-Olunloyo, off Akanran Road, @ 9.00 a.m.

The weeklong event is expected to be declared open on Monday by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State and Chief Host, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, at Dapo Aderogba Hall, Iyaganku Press Centre, Ibadan, at 11.00 a.m., while All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be the Guest Speaker, on the topic POST 2019 GENERAL ELECTIONS: FATE OF AVERAGE NIGERIANS. The

Special Guest of Honour for the day is Chief Adebayo Adelabu, APC Gubernatorial Flag bearer. His Imperial Majesty , the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso1, will be the Royal Father of the Day, while Prophet Timothy Abass Arabambi, of CAC Reformation Land, Olunloyo, Akanran, Ibadan,  is the Spiritual Father of the Day. Captains of industries, political aspirants, Local Government Chairmen, Union leaders and other well meaning Nigerians,have also been invited to grace the opening ceremony.

The anniversary programme continues on Tuesday, 9th October, 2018,with a WALK FOR LIFE/KEEP-FIT EXERCISE @ Ilaji Stadium & Resort

Centre, Akanran, via Ibadan, @ 9.00 a.m. This is based on the imperative of engaging in fitness exercise regularly, to keep the body in a very frisky state. The Chairman/CEO of Ilaji Stadium & Resort Centre, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, will play host to the journalists.

Against the backdrop of the need to appreciate and reunite with the former leaders of the Union at the State level, coupled with the fact

that the patrons of the Union need to come together to rub minds with
the members of the pen profession, Thursday, 11th October, 2018, has
been tagged PAST LEADERS/PATRONS’  RE- UNION DAY, where Dr. Kayode Obembe, the CMD/CEO of Premier Medicaid International, Iwo Road, Ibadan, will be the Guest Speaker on the topic, TACKLING NON COMMUNICABLE DISEASES. Chief (Mrs) Oluwakemi Alao Akala, former Oyo State first lady, will be the mother of the day, while a specialist in Agriculture, Chief Emmanuel Folorunso Ogunnaike (JP) MON, is expected to be the Guest of Honour.

The grand finale of the weeklong event comes up on Friday, 12th October, 2018,  with a Jumat Service at Bodija Housing Estate Community Mosque, @ 1.00 p.m., to be followed by Pen Nite  at Dapo Aderogba Hall, Iyaganku Press Centre, Ibadan, @ 4.30 p.m. A gubernatorial hopeful in Oyo State, Professor Adeolu Akande, will deliver a lecture titled IMPACT OF JOURNALISM ON DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE. The weeklong event will be rounded off with special awards to be  given to notable Nigerians who have contributed in one way or the other to the peace, security of lives and property, agricultural development in the country, improvement in health sector, development of their immediate communities and the state at large – to mention just a few.

Members of the fourth estate of the realm are therefore enjoined to come out en masse to grace this auspicious GOLDEN JUBILEE EVENT which promises to be very colourful.
