The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo North Senatorial District has declared itself stronger, more united, and fully prepared for the 2027 general elections, following a high-level strategic meeting held in Ogbomoso on Wednesday.
The gathering, which took place at the Olagbami Osekun Civic Centre, brought together key party stakeholders in a show of solidarity and growing momentum behind the leadership of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.
Among the prominent attendees were Deputy Governor Barr. Abdul-Rahman Adebayo Lawal, former Deputy Governor Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi, Chief of Staff to the Governor Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, and several party leaders from across the senatorial district.
The meeting, described by participants as a “movement” rather than just a political gathering, highlighted Governor Makinde’s role in unifying the region through inclusive governance and grassroots-driven development projects.
“The Makinde administration has broken records in employment and infrastructure delivery,” said Deputy Governor Lawal while addressing the crowd. “We are not just here to talk politics. We are here to deepen unity, foster reconciliation, and strengthen our structure for the tasks ahead.”
He also announced personal donations to support regular party meetings and emphasized the administration’s commitment to equity and inclusive progress across all regions of the state.
Former Deputy Governor Gbadamosi, recently appointed to the PDP’s Board of Trustees, declared that the party is on course to reclaim power at the national level. “We will take back more states. We will take back the centre,” he stated confidently, drawing a wave of applause from attendees.
From the PDP Elders’ Council, Dr. Saka Balogun stressed the importance of fairness in the distribution of appointments, urging party leaders to maintain balance and equity as the PDP strengthens its foothold in Oyo North.
The event also served as a working session, with reports presented on the establishment of a new senatorial office in Iseyin and reconciliation efforts across local councils. District party chairman, Hon. Yusuf, credited local government chairmen for playing key roles in achieving these milestones.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, reaffirmed the legislature’s unwavering support for Governor Makinde and encouraged party members to remain focused and united.
Chief of Staff Otunba Ogunwuyi closed the meeting with a vote of thanks and a reassurance of the governor’s continued support for party faithful. “What we are witnessing today is not just a senatorial meeting—it is a movement,” he said.
The strategic convergence in Ogbomoso, observers say, marks a turning point for the PDP in the region, showcasing its renewed strength and cohesion under Governor Makinde’s leadership.
As 2027 approaches, the message from Ogbomoso is loud and clear: Oyo North PDP is ready—and it stands firmly behind Seyi Makinde.
