Members of the People’s Democratic Party have been urged to work assiduously towards ensuring victory for all the Chairmanship and councillorship candidates across the 33 local government areas of Oyo state in the forthcoming local government election.
Candidates and party members were equally urged to shun any form of violence or clash as they embark on campaign towards the said polls slated for April 27th, 2024.
The Oyo state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde and Deputy National Chairman (South) of the People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja gave the admonition during the unveiling of party’s candidates for Chairman and councillorship positions in Ibadan South East local government area held at Christ Church Primary school field, Odinjo, Ibadan.
Speaking through the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Ademola Akeem Ige, Governor Makinde said that the candidates avoid any utterances or provocative statements against the opposition party and their candidates that may bring about violence during the period of campaign.
Also speaking in the same vein, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja said that Governor Seyi Makinde has made campaign less stressful for all the candidates fielded by the party with his outstanding performances in less than 6 months of the Omi tuntun 2.0 government.
He added that the Oyo state residents will repay the good work being done by the Governor by voting massively for all the PDP Candidates in order to continue to enjoy the good governance at the grassroot levels.
While congratulating all the candidates on their choice as the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming council election, Ambassador Arapaja enjoined them to be magnanimous in victory and embraced other aspirants that contested with them in the interest of the progress of the party.
Highlight of the event was the official presentation of the Chairmanship Candidate of the party, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode who is the incumbent Chairman of Ibadan South East local government area, his Vice Chairman candidate, Hon. Teslim Ogundeji and all the 12 councillorship candidates for the local government election.
