Oyo Government to prosecute illegal borehole drillers as AWDROP president warns on need to patronise only members
The National President, Association Of Water Well Drilling Rig Owners And Practitioners (AWDROP), Engr. Michael Ale has admonished members of the public to patronize only members of the association in drilling of boreholes in order to ensure quality and also to have value for their hard earned money.
Engr. Ale stated this while inaugurating the newly elected Chairman and members of the executive of AWDROP, Oyo state chapter which was held at International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan.
The Nat’l President explained that AWDROP is a registered association with the Federal Government of Nigeria with members that are well qualified in the profession of borehole drilling with relevant experience and educational qualification.
He said the association is working in collaboration with relevant government agencies to ensure water for all irrespective of social standing. He emphasized the importance of water in human lives especially at a time the world is going through a pandemic.
Engr. Ale, a one time consultant to World Bank on water stated that he will continue to be saying the truth to the authority until there is affordable and drinkable water for all.
He called on members of the executives to put the interest of the association first in all they do and should not see their position as a way to enriched themselves.
In his message, the Executive Director, Integrated Water Reources Management Commission, Engr. Magashi Umar Bashi said the commission has issued a number of licences to qualified applicants and also monitoring their activities to ensure that they cooperate within the terms and condition of the licenses given to them.
Also, the Oyo State commissioner for environment Rt Hon Kehinde Ayoola disclosed that the state government will not allowed illegal water drilling across the state and solicit for support of members of AWDROP in Oyo state.
Earlier, the new AWDROP chairman in Oyo State, Yinka Kolawole promised to project the good image of the association and calls for support of all members of the association.
The high point of the inauguration ceremony were issuance of Water Well Drilling licenses to the National President, Engr. Michael Ale, Male Integrated company and some others while certificates and staff of office were presented to the chairman and members of his executive.
Members of the association across the nation attended the event.
