The Oyo State Government has unveiled the official lineup for Vibing December, a month-long cultural and entertainment festival holding from December 1, 2025 to January 2, 2026, positioning the state as one of Nigeria’s most vibrant holiday destinations this festive season.
Announced through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the initiative — tagged #FaajiDecember — is designed to celebrate the state’s rich cultural heritage, promote domestic tourism, and stimulate local economic activity by attracting visitors from within and outside Nigeria.
The Executive Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is featured as the chief promoter of the festival, aligning with his administration’s commitment to developing Oyo State into a top-tier economic, cultural and tourism hub.
Speaking on the festival’s vision, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, said Vibing December has been curated in partnership with major cultural and entertainment brands such as Nigerian Breweries Plc, Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival, Royal Entertainment Clique, Amala Festival 7.0, Father Christmas Village, Adayeba Culture Tourism Foundation, The Jagz, Ojude UI, Ibadan Fashion Rising, Kiddies Funfair, Yoruba Party, Ariya Networks, Oyo Durbar, among many others.
These partners will host activities across Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa, turning the entire state into a tourism circuit throughout the festive period.
The lineup features a rich blend of cultural displays, concerts, nightlife experiences, culinary shows, fashion runways, children’s events, city cruises, art exhibitions, and other immersive entertainment designed to offer visitors a “slick, smooth and soothing” experience.
Olatubosun noted that the state has created a conducive environment for tourism to flourish, explaining that statistics show about 45% of youths who attend Detty December events in Lagos are actually from Ibadan. With Vibing December, he said the state is now offering competitive, homegrown experiences capable of retaining local fun-seekers while attracting new visitors.
He added that security agencies are fully mobilised to ensure a safe, well-coordinated environment for all residents and tourists throughout the festivities, reinforcing Oyo’s commitment to safe tourism.
The Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Culture and Tourism, Bisi Oluranti, applauded the ministry for championing the initiative, expressing confidence that Vibing December will become a sustainable annual festival that enhances revenue generation, strengthens the creative industry and expands the tourism value chain.
With its diverse programming and broad stakeholder collaboration, Vibing December is projected to pull thousands of holiday travellers, creatives, culture lovers and investors into Oyo State, further cementing its status as one of Nigeria’s fastest-rising tourism destinations.
