In recognition of contributions to the development of sports at the grassroots, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Oyo State Chapter would today honour some personalities with distinguished sports merit award.
The dinner and award night scheduled for Joybam Hotel today is to climax activities marking the 2018 annual SWAN Week celebration which had started since a week ago with various sporting programmes.
Part of the dignitaries that would be awarded during the gala night
according to the chairman of Oyo SWAN Week planning committee,
Olanrewaju Agiri is the Commissioner of Police of Oyo State, CP Abiodun Odude who had tremendously boost the image of Oyo State command within the force through Sport.
Also to be honour during the night event is Amb. Romoke Ayinde, the
CEO of Kayrom Lee Nig. Ltd. Who is a principal partner to the federal
ministry of youths and sports on grassroots sports development, she’s
to be decorated as a Matron of the association.
Rashidi Yekini Foundation, Dr. Musa Oshodi, the vice president of
Nigeria Judo Federation, Tokunbo Ladipo of TKO Sports, Chief Baron
Akintunde Opaleye, the chairman of Oyo State Amateur Boxing
Association, Alh. Hamzart Kolade Oba of Cool Global Interlinks are among dignitaries that would receive SWAN Merit Award.
Other activities marking the week celebration was a football,
table-tennis, athletics and tennis competition among media houses in
the state, while winners in different categories of sports would receive trophies and cash prizes during the gala night.
