Oyo Assembly PDP Formally Receives Defecting APC Lawmaker, Oyeleke Into Its Fold

Member representing Ogo-oluwa/Surulere in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke has formally been received into the People’s Democratic Party, PDP .

Hon Oyeleke who just defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC was received into the ruling party in Oyo State by the majority leader of the House, Hon Sanjo Adedoyin and other lawmakers at the floor of the House.

Hon Oyeleke was presented with the People’s Democratic Party, PDP flag at the brief ceremony.

In his defection letter read by the Clerk, Mrs Oludara Awe, Hon Oyeleke said he left his former political party, APC because of some unresolvable internal wranglings.

The letter read in part ” APC in Oyo State has failed to uphold the tenets of democracy especially as it relates to justice and equity in its dealings with party faithful. I can’t continue to be in a party that does not value my interest and that of my supporters. The PDP has shown great potentials in Oyo State and it remains the party to beat at all levels in 2023.”

It was also announced in the defection letter that Hon Oyeleke has joined the PDP with thousands of his political supporters.

The Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin whi welcomed the lawmaker to the ruling party applauded his resolve to join the PDP in Oyo State.

While reacting to the defection, the Minority Leader of the House, Hon Asimiyu Alarape wished the Lawmaker well but noted that crisis management has always been part of politics.
