The Oyo state house of assembly, on Tuesday, directed the executive arm of government through the the Board of Internal Revenue Services and office of the Accountant General to conduct an inventory of all sources of revenue in the state.
The directive came to fore after the lawmakers considered a motion brought to the floor of the house by Hon. Akintunde Olajide representing Lagelu State Constituency, titled: “An Appeal to the Citizenry to Contribute to the Smooth Running of the State Through Prompt Payment of Taxes, Levies and other Dues to the Government.”
The house after a cross deliberation on the motion, charged the Executive arm to empower all revenue generating agencies with adequate and necessary logistics and tools to enhance their performance.
While ruling over the motion, the speaker, Oyo state house of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, constituted a 6-man Ad-Hoc committee to critically look into the alleged loopholes in the internally generated revenue of the state, including levies, fines and penalties and get back to the house within 14days.
In a similar vein, the house, after considering a motion presented to it by the honorable representing Afijio State Constituency, Hon. Seyi Adisa, on reoccurring gridlock in the state, directed the Oyo state Ministry of Works and Transport and the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYRTMA) to within two-weeks put an effective mechanism in place to curb the incessant traffic congestion in the state.
