Oyo state House of Assembly has confirmed that the robbery incident which was reported by the media recently.
Speaking with Journalists in Ibadan at a press conference in Ibadan, the clerk of the House Mrs Felicia Oyediran said though the incident happened but that does not affect the plenary of the house
Oyadiran who was with Hon Francis Adetunji, oluyole state , Vice Chairman House committee on Information, media and public relations at the press conference said ‘ What actually happened was that there was electricity problem, generally in the secretariat last week, transformer Supplying electricity to some part of the secretariat particularly Ministry of Establish, Agric, Health, commerce office of the Auditor General, and Accountant general were affected and it was not fixed by the ministry of work until last week and that was not the reasons why the house did not resume sitting, the House Adjourn till Thursday .However committees are still carrying on their duties.
Last week however, there was a theft of some electrical appliances at the generator sites, that did not say the House did not have light, when we have fuel , we have light in fact the generator was used on Friday on Saturday ,it was used on Monday, that does not prevent the House from carrying role, their duties has not be hindered in whatever form. The theft was reported and police are investigating matter, we are still awaiting the report from the police concerning the theft.
‘It was not N500 000 Cable that was stolen, that is far from the truth, the fuse that was stolen is about N40 0r N45,0000 But it is not because of that that the house is not sitting the matter investigation
The clerk however note that the challenges does not in any way affect the plenary as the lawmakers in various committee are holding their meetings and that the house will seat on Thursday
She also urged journalists to always confirm the authenticity of their stories before going to press.
An inside source told our reporter that the police have launched investigation into the mater and invited some guards for further probe
It was also gathered that theft of items belonging the National Assembly Service Commission and individuals have been on for some times now.
