The premises of the state assembly complex we filled with different groups of peopple came around to celebrate the Speaker of the state Assembly Hon Debo Ogundoyin on his emergence as Chairman of Conference of Speakers of State Legislature of Nigeria.
The 36 years old Eruwa born, who legislatures was elected last week is the first speaker from Oyo state to hold such exalted position.
Led by the Deputy speaker, all the House of Assembly members and Chairman State Assembly service commission, Hon Abdulwasi Musa and others ambused the Speaker’s convoy at the entrance of the Assembly complex from where they marched down to the Western Hall were a grand reception was held
The Deputy Governor, Bar Bayo Raheem Lawal, Chief Judge of Oyo State, Honorable Justice Iyabode Yerima, Secretary to the state government Professor Olanike, Adeyemo Commissioners, Special Advisers head of Agencies, PDP leaders also graced the ocassion.
While speaking, the elated Ogundoyin who was accompanied by his wife and siblings said he would continue to work assiduously with his executive council members to improve on the business of lawmaking and champion the course of democracy for more delivery of dividends of good governance.
“I want to assure you that as the chairman of Nigeria Conference of Speakers, I will not allow my new assignment to deter me from my primary responsibilities as the Speaker of Oyo state assembly.
“ I would not be deterred from carrying out my duty to my primary constituency which is the Oyo state assembly. Ibarapa is my home and I remain committed to attracting dividends of democracy to my people at home.” Ogundoyin said.
The deputy governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal in his remark lauded the Speaker for making Oyo state proud at the national level by his emergence leader of Nigeria Conference of Speakers.
He added that the Speaker has exhibited qualitative leadership traits that have made him an exemplary youth in holding leadership role while maintaining that the new feat will propel other young politicians to continue to aspire for greatness within the Nigerian political landscape.
