Prince Kunle Musediq Adelakun, popularly known as Eruobodo, son of late Ibadan political heavyweight Busari Adelakun, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adelakun, who is the son of a Second Republic Ibadan politician and a core progressive known for his courage and unwavering political conviction, declared his intention under the “Renewed Vision” agenda, positioning his ambition as both a continuation of a political legacy and a response to the current needs of the people of Oyo State.
Speaking during his declaration themed “Renewed Hope and Vision,” the Ibadan-born politician described his ambition as divinely inspired and timely, insisting that it represents a “mission that must be fulfilled.” He said his decision to contest is driven by a strong desire to reposition Oyo State for inclusive growth and restore its status as a leading state in Nigeria.
Adelakun explained that his entry into the race is rooted in concerns about worsening economic hardship and what he described as “artificial poverty” created by self-serving political actors. According to him, governance in the state must shift away from personal enrichment and focus on delivering real value to citizens through responsible and people-centered leadership.
He outlined a “People-Oriented Development (POD)” framework as the foundation of his agenda, with key focus areas including education, healthcare, agriculture, security, and economic expansion. He said the goal is to ensure that citizens enjoy the full dividends of democracy through improved access to quality services and opportunities.
As part of his plans, Adelakun pledged to empower youths, women, and small-scale entrepreneurs through skills development programmes and financial support. He also promised to modernize agriculture with improved tools and funding for farmers, while boosting trade by expanding markets and improving rural-urban connectivity.
On infrastructure, he committed to constructing new roads, rehabilitating existing ones, and strengthening transportation systems to drive economic activities across the state. He also assured that his administration would embrace transparency and accountability, leveraging technology and innovation to improve governance and create jobs.
Adelakun further proposed key social reforms, including the creation of a Ministry of Social Welfare and Humanitarian Services to cater to vulnerable groups, subsidized tertiary education, and employment opportunities for outstanding graduates. In healthcare, he pledged that no emergency patient would be denied treatment in any hospital, whether public or private.
While acknowledging party leaders such as Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo and Senator Teslim Folarin, and commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for national reforms, Adelakun expressed confidence in victory, stating that with public support, he would be sworn in as Governor of Oyo State on May 29, 2027.
