The choice of Engineer Remi Olaniyan as the running mate to Peoples Democratic Party PDP which has been ratified by the National Working Committee of the party came as a surprise to many political stakeholders in the state.
Olaniyan former chairman Oyo state Road Maintain ace Agency OYSTROMA moved from Accord party to APC and left with Unity forum to ADC before landing in PDP as deputy governorship candidate
The igboho born multimillionaire was among the gubernatorial aspirant in African Democratic Congress ADC who left the party due to what they termed as injustice and imposition of candidates.
Investigation reveals that immediately the ADC crisis started, politicians from other party including former governor of Oyo state Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala invited him to joined their party and promise him juicy position if their party win election in 2019.
It was also gathered that majority of his supporters were mounting pressure on him to leave the ADC and either joined Alao Akala in ADP or another party where their group will be relevant.
An inside source told our reporter that Olaniyan was already considering ADP as an option before Alao Akala joined the party and emerged as gubernatorial candidate for 2019 election
“The journey into PDP was sudden and not , sudden because we never envisaged it as at the moment it happened and not because our Oga is a good man who relates with everybody irrespective of political affiliation” said our source
It was gathered that some of his friends in PDP convinced him to joined the party and later invited him to a meeting with Senator Hosea Agboola where the deal was zealed.
Although the PDP in Oke Ogun are already proposing another candidate as Seyi Makinde’s running mate but immediately Olaniyan agreed to joined they party they ceded the position to him base on his influence in the region and across the state.
“Olaniyan is not just a politician, he is a philanthropist, he is a great pillar of support for many people across the state and i am sure this is payback time for him, people will reciprocate his humanitarian gesture with their support during election ” said one of his aide
