The Ogbomoso Youths in North America (OYNA) has launched a new digital empowerment initiative aimed at equipping young people from Ogbomosoland with foundational software development skills.
The programme, known as the Ogbomoso Tech Program 2025, was unveiled as part of efforts to promote innovation and align with the developmental agenda of the community.
According to a statement from the organisers, the initiative is designed to train young people between the ages of 18 and 35 in basic software product development, problem-solving, and digital creativity. The eight-week intensive course will help participants acquire the necessary skills to meet global standards and contribute to the technological advancement of Ogbomosoland.
A spokesperson for OYNA described the programme as a strategic investment in the future of the community. “We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to the bright and ambitious youths of Ogbomosoland,” the spokesperson said. “This programme is more than just training; it’s a platform for young creators to develop tangible solutions for problems within their communities. By investing in their software development skills, we are investing in a technologically advanced and prosperous future for Ogbomosoland.”
The organisers explained that the programme will prioritise applicants who are passionate about using technology to solve real-world problems. Outstanding participants will receive sponsorship for an advanced industry mentorship programme to help them grow in their careers.
To qualify, applicants must be indigenes of Ogbomosoland and possess at least an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). Those with higher qualifications such as HND or a Bachelor’s degree are also eligible. They are expected to submit a resume, cover letter, academic credentials, government-issued ID, and a short essay outlining their passion for software development and how they plan to apply technology to community issues.
The application process, which closes on November 23, 2025, will include a review of all submissions and possible interviews for shortlisted candidates. Successful applicants will be notified by email.
OYNA, a non-profit organisation based in North America, said the initiative forms part of its continuous effort to support education, healthcare, and youth empowerment in Ogbomosoland. The group noted that it remains committed to creating opportunities for the younger generation and fostering the technological and economic progress of the community.
