Governor of the state of Osun  Mr Gboyega Oyetola today flagged off the year 2020 Farming Season, where he offered supports to our farmers.

Oyetola said the development is inline with his administration’s resolve develop the Agric sector & improve food security & sufficiency in the state

According to him. “we’ve always done to boost agric production in the State.

In the previous years, our supports were in form of subsidised inputs. But this year, we’re giving agric inputs such as maize seeds, cassava cuttings, vegetable seeds, lime, fingerlings & Knapsack sprayers free of charge to farmers to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on them.

We’ve approved the release of fund to the Federation of Fadama Community Associations (FFCA) to offset the outstanding balance of 2 John dpere Tractors & other complimentary implements to support the community for this year’s planting season.

We’re also making Power Tiller available to rice farmers at subsidized rate.

Also, in line with our commitment to develop the Agric value chain, the State Govt., in collaboration with Central bank & Nig. Cassava Grower’s Assoc., plans to distribute Agro-chemicals, fertilizers & herbicides to over 2,000 farmers through the Anchor Borrower Programme.

Through the programme, 611 cotton growers had previously been taken care of across the State. Our livestock farmers will also benefit from a World Bank Project ‘Livestock Productivity & Resilience Support’ which will take off this year, as Osun is among 15 beneficiary states.

We’ll also expand the Osun Broiler Outgrowers’ Production Scheme to accommodate more participants. Arrangements are also in top gear to disburse soft loans to small & medium scale enterprises at a reduced interest rate through the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).

We’re doing all these to demonstrate our concern for the welfare of farmers & for Agric business to thrive in our State. I, therefore enjoin all farmers to collaborate with the State Govt in the achievement of this noble idea.
