The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Osun State Council, has directed all local government workers in the state to withdraw their services from Monday, February 17, 2025, over security concerns.

In a statement signed by its chairperson, Comrade (Dr.) Christopher A. Arapasopo, the union expressed worry over the rising political tension in the state, which it said has created fear and agitation among workers in local government areas.

“The NLC is apolitical, but we will not allow our members to work in an atmosphere of insecurity. We urge all political parties and their members to abide by the rule of law to prevent a descent into anarchy,” the statement read.

The union emphasized that workers would not return to their duties until their safety at work was assured and guaranteed, describing security as a constitutional right of all employees.
