Arole Oodua & Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, In his continued efforts complementing government’s fight against Coronavirus pandemic, has this week donated four of his locally fabricated motorized modular fumigators to the Nigerian Army and Enugu state government as his Covid-19 Team is currently on a tour of Southeast and Southsouth of the country.
At the Enugu government house yesterday(Thursday) while presenting the fumigators, Princess Fadekemi Fadojutimi who is the Secretary of the Ooni Covid-19 Committee thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for the warm reception, she disclosed that the Ooni’s decision to donate the fumigators was borne out of his selfless service for the country.
Fadojutimi stressed on the reality of Covid-19 and maintained that the Ooni of Ife is committed to join hands with the government in fighting the pandemic.
She also disclosed that the equipment was “locally produced right inside the Ooni’s palace in Ile-Ife while the chemical sustenance is body friendly and not harmful to health.
“With this equipment, we can fumigate markets or other public areas where people gather, we also have a drone that covers above the normal surface”.
“The chemical like I said is very body friendly. It is a solution that was mixed with sodium and hydrochloride. So it is not harmful to the body”, she said.
Responding, Governor Ugwuanyi, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, commended the Ooni of Ife for the gesture and his steadfastness in thinking outside the box to proffer ideas on how to fight the pandemic in the country.
She pointed out that the invention will not only assist in containing the spread of the virus, but will also create employment for Nigerians,
“We cannot thank him enough, we pray for him and wholeheartedly accept these donations”. She said.
Meanwhile, the Ooni in his capacity as Co-Chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria(NCTRN) had earlier on Monday at his Ile-Oodua palace, Ile-Ife donated two motorised modular fumigators to the Nigeria Army the 2 Mechanised Division received by the General Officer Commanding(GOC) Maj.Gen. Anthony Omozoje who was led by the Olowu of Owu-Kuta, HRM, Oba Oyelude Makama
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff and Nigeria Army, Major-General Omozoje thanked the African foremost monarch for the kind gesture which according to him validates the confidence Nigerians have in the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, saying such collaboration and more will assist the army in fulfilling its constitutional roles of defending Nigerians against the enemies of the State.
Ooni Ogunwusi in his speech reaffirmed his trust and confidence in the leadership of Lt. Gen. Buratai as the Chief of Army Staff while he retreated optimistism that the Nigerian Army has all it takes to lead the war against insurgency and soon bring it to an end.
Ooni who is also the permanent chairman of Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers also thanked the Olowu of Kuta, Oba Oyelude Makama for his steadfastness in his sustained advocacy and support to the Armed Forces, calling him a Nigerian patriotic leader and loyal descendant of Oduduwa.
Other members of the Ooni Covid-19 Team that went to Enugu include the Elejesi of Ejesika, HRM Oba Awosunle Babatunde, Mr Ayoyemi Osumeye and Mr Morakinyo Daramola
It will be recalled that the had two weeks ago taken his motorized fumigators to Edo, Balyesa, Delta and Anambra states through this same Committee led by Ooni’s Spokesman, Comrade Moses Olafare.
In this phase, the Ooni’s team is expected to be in Eboyin on Friday(today) and thereafter move to Imo, Abia, Rivers, Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.
