The Ooni of Ife, Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has celebrated the former Governor of Osun State and ex-Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, on the occasion of his 68th birthday, describing him as “a towering icon of progressive politics and people-oriented governance.”
In a statement issued on Saturday by Otunba Moses Olafare, Director of Media & Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, the monarch extolled Aregbesola’s enduring contributions to democratic governance, grassroots development, and ideological consistency.
“Ogbeni Aregbesola is not just a political figure; he is an institution of progressive ideology, a grassroots mobilizer, and an unapologetic defender of the masses,” the Ooni said. “His legacy in Lagos and Osun States stands as glaring testimony to his commitment to participatory democracy and infrastructure-driven development.”
Highlighting Aregbesola’s journey as a revolutionary thinker and loyal champion of progressive causes, the Ooni described him as a “strong-willed descendant of Oduduwa” whose political path has inspired a generation of emerging leaders across Yorubaland and Nigeria.
“Aregbesola’s intellectual depth, administrative competence, and unwavering activist spirit continue to echo through the corridors of Nigerian politics,” the statement noted. “He is a compass for justice, equity, and good governance.”
Marking the milestone of his 68th year, the Ooni offered heartfelt prayers for Aregbesola, wishing him sound health, enduring grace, and renewed strength to continue serving the Yoruba nation and Nigeria at large.
“May your wisdom remain a guiding light,” the Ooni prayed, “and may you live long to continue championing the cause of our people.”
