The Onpetu of Ijeru land, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran, Lagbami Osekun III, has commiserated with the governor of Oyo State, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde, over the demise of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.
Oba Onpetu, in a condolence message made public on Sunday, said that the deceased left an irreplaceable gap in the Makinde family and Oyo State in general.
He said that it was painful for the deceased to join the saints at this particular time, when his counsel, experience and expertise were mostly needed.
According to him, the Ijeru Kingdom is particularly saddened by the sudden demise of Engineer Sunday Makinde, adding that since no one can question the Almighty God, the kingdom can only urge the governor, the family and the good people of Oyo State, to take heart and take solace in the good deeds and the indelible marks the deceased lef behind.
“We are greatly pained for having to part with such a vibrant human resource at his prime,” the Onpetu said.
The monarch, who stated that the late Engineer Sunday Makinde would be sorely missed, wrote: “I commiserate with the governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde on his brother’s demise. While we are pained as mortals to lose him at this time, we give glory to the Almighty God for granting him a result-oriented sojourn on earth.
“We also take solace in the good name he is leaving behind, as his service to humanity showcased a man who was faithful in his service to God and his fellow humans with dedication, diligence and uncommon zeal. May his gentle soul rest peacefully with his maker.”
