The Ondo APC Mandate Forum has condemned in strong terms the desperate attempts made by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to seek endorsement as Ondo primary election of APC draws nearer.

The Forum while reacting to the rumour making the rounds that Akeredolu has been going around seeking the attentions of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari to endorse his underserved second term ambition.

While speaking with the press, the Forum in a statement signed Bisola Ademolagbeni
Secretary, Ondo APC Mandate Forum expressed her reservation on the claim of the governor of Ondo State that he went to present his nomination form for his re-election as governor to President Muhammadu Buhari as a mark of readiness for the July 20 primary election of APC.

The Forum described the presentation as crass hypocrisy and another attempt to seek undue endorsement. The position of the Forum is premised on the fact that Akeredolu is rather jittery because he is afraid that his immediate past will hunt him.

“In 2019, governor Akeredolu procured Action Alliance tickets for his sponsored candidates across the State and he campaigned for them using the fund meant for APC candidates. This well advertised anti-party activities of the governor was done with brazen impunity in 2019. It is not a hidden fact that the anti-party activities of the governor accounted for the failure of President Buhari in 2019”

“It is therefore shameful that the same President Buhari that Akeredolu contributed largely to his failure during the last general elections that he now turned around to seek his endorsement. The big question is: If President Buhari had lost in other states has he did in Ondo during the election, would Akeredolu be presenting his re-election nomination form to him?

The forum also advised the governor to stop selling lies that Asiwaju Tinubu has endorsed him. The Forum assured APC members that the leaders of APC will not return a product that has no electoral value.

Governor Akeredolu is therefore advised to return home to prepare for them fast approaching primaries of the party slated for 22nd July, 2020.
