The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, has pledged to intervene in securing the total freedom of Yoruba Nation advocate, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
The respected monarch who received Sunday Igboho and his team at his palace In Orile Igbon on Tuesday praised Igboho’s courage and determination in resisting the violent incursions of herdsmen and bandits into Yorubaland. He emphasized that the activist’s efforts had significantly contributed to the current awareness and unity within the region.
“Your struggle for the liberation of the Yoruba race has greatly contributed to where we are today. Enough of your stay abroad; we need you back home to continue your mission — but let your actions be guided by the law,” Olugbon stated.
The monarch further revealed plans to meet with all Southwest governors, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, to deliberate on Igboho’s return and role in regional security. He also disclosed his intention to send letters to both federal and state authorities within the next 48 hours.
Olugbon publicly endorsed Sunday Igboho as a key figure to champion security initiatives in the region.
In his response, Chief Adeyemo lauded Olugbon as one of the few traditional rulers truly committed to the defense of the Yoruba cause.
“During my travails, Baba stood firmly by me. He was one of the monarchs who voluntarily signed the documents that fast-tracked my release. When I wanted to bury my mother, he used his influence to ensure I could come home and move around without hindrance. I do not take his love for granted,” Igboho said.
igboho also requested that his name be removed from federal Government wanted lists and improved on the security in the South west
