Olufunke Kikelomo Olugbemi Cancer Foundation (OKOCAF) on monday donated a Cancer Center to the Management of University College Hospital, Ibadan under the leadership of Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo.
Speaking at the official commissioning and handing over ceremony of the Cancer Center, the benefactor and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr. Bayo Olugbemi, said that the commissioning of the Cancer Centre marks the first phase of its vision, assuring that, “the next phase is to equip the centre with state-of-the-art cancer diagnostic and treatment tools”. “Such advancement will aid in cancer research, early detection and effective treatment to improve patients outcomes,” he said.
He however made an appeal for public supports and contributions in a bid to make a transformative impact in the fight against the menace of cancer in the society.
He acknowledged the Hospital’s Management for allowing such centre to be situated within the Hospital premises.
Bayo Olugbemi who hails from Olugbemi Village in Oluyole Local Government Area and Kudeti in Ibadan South East LGA of Oyo state is the Managing Director/CEO of First Registrars And Investor Services Ltd, a Market Leader in Data Management Company and Investor Services.
He has involved himself in several philanthropic gestures over the years.
He has built several blocks of Classrooms for Primary and Secondary Schools within Ibadan and donated Lecture Theatres at Redeemers University, Joseph Ayo Babalola University amongst others.
The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo in his speech, reiterated the need for more contributions and supports from individuals, organizations as well as foundations in the area of smooth healthcare delivery in the country in order to add value to humanity and to patients.
Prof. Otegbayo on behalf of the Coordinating Honourable Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Alli Pate, and the Management of the Hospital thanked Dr. Bayo Olugbemi and his family for the donation and prayed that God will reward them abundantly.
