The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), has issued a stern warning to land grabbers, urging them to desist from illegal activities or face the full weight of the law.
The monarch gave the warning during a land dispute resolution meeting held at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, on Monday.
In a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, Oba Ladoja expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of land grabbing in Ibadan, describing the trend as alarming and unacceptable.
“I am not happy with the activities of land grabbers in Ibadan, ranging from threats, intimidation, assault, to the forceful seizure of land from rightful owners,” the monarch said.
He called on traditional rulers across Ibadanland, as well as law enforcement agencies, to collaborate in tackling the menace and ensuring that such cases are reduced to the barest minimum, if not completely eradicated.
The Olubadan emphasized that land in Ibadan should be used for meaningful development, including agriculture, industrial growth, and the establishment of cultural and tourism centres for the benefit of the people.
He reiterated his commitment to protecting the rights of legitimate landowners and maintaining peace across the ancient city.
Dignitaries present at the meeting included Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez, the Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland; Chief Lowo Obisesan, the Aare Alasa of Ibadanland; alongside Mogajis, Baales, and members of the public.
