The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called on Yoruba people to remain vigilant in the face of emerging security challenges confronting Nigeria.
The monarch made the call over the weekend in Ode-Omu, Osun State, during the annual Ode-Omu Day celebration, a cultural event where the community reflects on its development strides and maps out future projects.
Speaking at the event, the Olubadan commended the people of Ode-Omu for their strong spirit of unity and community development under the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba James Bolarinwa Oladipupo. He pledged the continuous support of Ibadan to the development of Ode-Omu, announcing that an illustrious son of Ibadanland and Parakoyi, Chief Tunde Afolabi, would be drafted to chair the 2026 edition of the celebration.
Earlier, former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Wale Adesiyan, told the gathering that Ibadan’s ancient warriors were responsible for settling Ode-Omu in its present location in 1909. He lauded the massive turnout of royal fathers, especially the Olubadan, at the event.
Among the members of the Olubadan-in-Council present were Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Osi Olubadan; and High Chief Senator Sarafadeen Alli, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, was represented by the Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo, while the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin, also attended the event with his chiefs.
The event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders and dignitaries from across the South-West, underscoring the historical ties and cultural unity among the Yoruba people.
