The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, the monarch said his attention had been drawn to trending reports alleging a disagreement between the palace and the state government ahead of the planned coronation of some High Chiefs.
The statement clarified that there is no discord between the Olubadan and the governor, emphasizing that the monarch remains in Ibadan and continues to carry out his traditional responsibilities.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Kabiyesi is hale and hearty in Ibadan and did not travel out of the city to avoid the coronation ceremony slated for Friday, April 3,” the statement read.
Addressing the status of the coronation, the palace disclosed that the affected High Chiefs had formally notified the Olubadan of their unavailability for the ceremony and consequently requested a postponement.
According to the statement, the request for a shift in date was duly communicated to the Oyo State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
The palace reiterated its commitment to due process and transparency, urging the public to disregard rumours of any rift, while assuring that developments regarding the coronation would be properly communicated.
