Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje ogunguniso 1 and Mogaji Moshood Akere, has been dragged to an Ibadan Court, over the installation of a new Mogaji for Akere family in the ancient city.
Respondents in the suit no I / 1353/16 are Oba Adetunji as first defendants, the Olubadan of Ibadanland as second defendants and Moshood Akere as third defendants.
The claimant A businessman, Prince Okunola Akere, in a motion on notice filled by his counsel, Mr. Soji Opabunmi, and supported by a 15 paragraph affidavit, kicked against the installation of the third defendant as the Mogaji of Akere family by the Olubadan.
He said the entire Akere family unanimously appointed him the Mogaji at a general meeting held on 20 November, stating that the resolution of the meeting was forwarded to the first and second defendants.
He stated further that rather than get a response from the first and second defendants on the letter sent to them, the third defendant was given a letter to come for installation.
According to him, as the rightful elected Mogaji, the cloth called ‘Aso Irole’ based on the family tradition, had been handed over to him by the immediate past Mogaji, late Chief Mustapha Oyeleke Wintola Akere.
He maintained that the installation of the third defendant as Mogaji of the Akere family by the first and second defendants, was an affront on the entire family, noting that the family will reject the imposition.
He then prayed the court to set aside the installation of the third defendants and declare him as the validly elected Mogaji as proclaimed by the entire Akere family.
