The Oyepeju Ojo Ara family of La’gbo Compound, Behind Erinle House Oja’gbo area of Ibadan City. Ibadan, Oyo state Nigeria and Alata Village in Oluyole local government respectively have described the late Olubadan, Oba Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun Alli Okunmade 111 as a monarch who dedicated his life and time to the advancement of Ibadanland.
They added that his achievements and reforms which he initiated as a monarch has placed Ibadan on another pedestal and a better position in Yorubaland.
Late Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland died on Thursday evening at the University College Hospital UCH at the age of 82.
His remains was laid to rest at his ancestral home in the Alarere compound area of Ibadan the Oyo state capital on Friday
In a condolence message signed by Alhaji Ademola Oyepeju, the Oyepeju Ojo Ara Family said though highly reverred monarch died at 82, his death is a bitter pill to swallow because it is not just a great loss to Ibadan and entire yorubaland but the end of an era.
“Kabiesi lived a fulfilled and accomplished all that he set out to achieve in life, he is no doubt a role model whose lifestyle is worthy of emulation”
While commiserating with the families, Governor Seyi Makinde, members of advisory council, High chiefs, Mogajis,Bales, and the entire Ibadan indigenes and residents, the Ojo Ara family urged the Olubadan advisory council and other stakeholders to ensure sustainability of Oba Balogun’s legacies especially his anti land grabbing reform and others
“We are pained about his demise but God knows better, may Almighty God grant him eternal rest and comfort us all in Ibadan, Oyo state and Nigeria at large”
