The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin 1), has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Kastina, the Sarkin Sasa Sadauna Yamma and Chairman of the Council of Arewa Traditional Rulers in the 17 Southern States of Nigeria.
In a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade, Oba Olakulehin described the late Sarkin Sasa as a bridge-builder who played a pivotal role in fostering harmony between the Arewa community and other ethnic nationalities in Ibadan and across the South.
“The demise of Sarkin Sasa marks the end of an era characterized by peaceful coexistence and unity among ethnic groups in Southern Nigeria. His 125 years on earth were impactful, and his contributions to the Arewa community and the nation at large will be remembered,” the monarch stated.
Oba Olakulehin further acknowledged the significant loss the Hausa/Fulani community and Oyo State have suffered with the passing of Alhaji Kastina. He prayed for the deceased’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to grant him Aljannah Firdaus and to comfort his bereaved family.
Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin Kastina passed away on Saturday and was laid to rest on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites at his residence in the Sasa community, Akinyele Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
