The Olubadan-designate, Oba (Senator) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has called for peace, unity, and collective support towards the progress of Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.

Speaking during his maiden address to journalists and well-wishers at his residence on Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan, Oba Ladoja urged political leaders and citizens alike to put the nation’s interest first. He stressed the need for collaboration at the local, state, and federal levels in order to build the Nigeria of everyone’s dreams.

The former governor of Oyo State also appealed to indigenes, non-indigenes, and all residents of Ibadanland to work hand in hand with the traditional institution to move the city to greater heights.

Expressing gratitude to God for sparing his life to witness his ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Ladoja declared that the throne is divinely ordained.

“Only God chooses Olubadan. The choice is not by power, might, riches, or wisdom but by God,” he stated, noting that his emergence was despite the numerous challenges he faced on the path to the pinnacle of Ibadan traditional rulership.

While mourning the passing of his predecessor, the late Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I), Ladoja described him as a monarch who lived a fulfilled life. He praised the late ruler’s reign for bringing unprecedented peace, unity, and developmental projects to Ibadanland.

The statement was e-signed by Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
