The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, will on Friday, September 26, 2025, ascend the revered throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland at a grand coronation ceremony scheduled to hold at the historic Mapo Hall.
Governor Seyi Makinde has formally approved Ladoja’s nomination, paving the way for his enthronement as the paramount ruler of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
A state government delegation on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan-designate and members of the Olubadan-in-Council at his Bodija residence to fine-tune arrangements ahead of the installation.
Confirming the development, Chief Adeola Oloko, media aide to Ladoja, said: “Oba Ladoja will be enthroned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, September 26, 2025.”
The former Oyo State governor had earlier on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with the kingmakers at his Ondo Street, Old Bodija residence in Ibadan North Local Government Area. The meeting, the first since his return following the demise of the immediate past monarch, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, lasted for about two hours.
All roads are expected to lead to Mapo Hall on September 26 as indigenes, dignitaries, and well-wishers gather to witness the historic installation of Oba Ladoja as the custodian of Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.
