The Executive Director of Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative, Dr. Oluwabukola OLATUNJI has commended the Society for Family Health (SFH) and UNESCO Spotlight Initiative Project for support and sponsorship to reached out to over 160 young people in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State in between the month of June and July, 2021 which is the timeline of the project.
He gave this commendation at the end of Project Assessment meeting of the organization which was held at the rounding off activities of Peer Education Training Project for young people, the intervention was held for In-School and Out of School youths in the following communities in Ojo LGA such as Ijanikin, Igbede, Shibiri, Ajangbadi, Igbo Elerin and Iba/LASU.
CEHUWEI concluded the nearly Two (2) months sponsored Peer Training Education campaign against Sexual Related and Gender Based Violence, other bad norms and practices such as Rape, Cultism, Drug abuse, Teenage pregnancy and early marriages.
In June, the Organization received a grant from the Society for Family Health (SFH) as a partner in the implementation of the UNESCO’s Spotlight Initiative 2.
The intervention with the focus of getting referrals also dig deep into areas of Reproductive Health, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Infections with more emphasis on HIV/AIDS.
At the rounding up Assessment, the Executive Director declared that submission of all reports, documents and feedback had been done since 11th August 2021.
He stressed further that in the course of the intervention of the project, major Stakeholders (State Actors & Non State Actors) were visited purposely for briefs about the organization’s activities in their domain. All together, the total session held was Twelve (12) while the total numbers of young people engaged were over One hundred and Sixty.
The Members of the Organization trained includes her Executive Director and the Field Officer for Lagos State, Mr. Tomi Amosu who in turn stepped down the training for Five other members of the organization which includes; Akanmu Oluwafemi, Ajayi Obisesan Tofunmi, Okuneye Azeezat, Aderinwale Rashedat, Abu Fatimat Oluwatobiloba, Oyeyinka Tobiloba and Omidiji Mariam, CEHUWEI Executive Director eulogized them for their commitment, efforts and perseverance to serve the various communities.
Conclusively, we also appreciated all the host communities for embracing members of the team in the implementation of the project within their locality.
