The Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation has revealed that the organization has decided to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to the similarities in the ideology of the foundation and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation, A foundation remodeled by the Olatoye Dynasty to remember and continue the good work of former member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Lagelu / Akinyele Federal Constituency, Late Hon. Olatoye Temitope well known as Sugar, made this known during a media parley with newsmen on Saturday.
Leader of the Olatoye Dynasty, Hon. Olatoye Olushina Olajide fondly known as Big Daddy speaking on behalf of the foundation added that the dynasty believe strongly in the ideology of strengthening human welfare, which is in alignment with Gov. Mankind’s style of governance and also the political concept of the Late Hon. Olatoye Sugar before he died.
“We believe strongly that our ideology runs with PDP, and in alignment with the Gov. Seyi Makinde.
This is the shoe our late person, Olatoye Temitope Sugar put our feet. And this is the reason we decided to join PDP. We sat with the governor, he made some promises, we did a research on him and realize he his a man of his words. We cherish him for the fact that this foundation is recognized by him”.
Hon. Olatoye Olushina further maintained that his late brother, Late Hon. Temitope Sugar sacrificed himself for the emergence of the present government in Oyo state, adding that the Olatoye Dynasty has been a past and pastle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since years ago.
“My brother, Temitope Sugar sacrificed himself for the success of the Makinde led government and he stayed loyal with the party till his last breath.
We have been in The Peoples Democratic Party since the days of late Chief Lamidi Adedibu and we decide to return back to our home. Even if we get no appointment from the present government, we will remain in PDP”.
National Patron of the Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation, Hon. Mufutau Abiodun Badmus while giving his remark appreciate the newsmen and further calls for support, guidance and good media relationship between journalists and the organization.
Hon. Badmus also urges Newsmen to imbibe the spirit of fairness, objectivity, balancing and fact checking in the course of news reportage.
He further debunked a viral rumour purported by chieftain of the opposition party, claiming that there is an internal rancor within the family and the foundation on who would stand in as a leader.
Director and Spokesman of the foundation, Mr. Gabriel Olatoye while listing the achievement of the foundation since the demise of the Late Temitope Latoye sugar maintained that the lawmaker left One Hundred and Twenty – Eight (128) unfinished project when he died.
Mr. Gabriel Olatoye explained that the foundation has been able to complete the renovation of the Ejioku Magistrate Court, A Twenty – Room public toilet in Oyo, a borehole facility at Ajibode, Ibadan, and as well shared Covid-19 palliatives to the people of Oyo state all after his demise.
He added that the foundation is willing to look into other programs and activities left undone of which a postgraduate building in the University of Ibadan, A Maternity wards in Egbeda, and Oyedeji are not excluded.
Recall that Hon. Temitope Olatoye Sugar, A former federal lawmaker who doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning in the Federal House of Representatives died on the 9th of March, 2020 at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan after he was shot at a polling unit in Lalupon part of Oyo State.
