A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Oyewole Olaosebikan, has formally declined his nomination as a member of the Oyo State Caretaker Committee constituted by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP and members of the NWC at the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, Olaosebikan expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him through the nomination.
He, however, said that after “sober reflection and wide consultation,” he decided to decline the appointment.
Olaosebikan explained that his decision was guided by his political convictions, loyalty to leadership, and commitment to the established structure of the party in Oyo State.
He noted that the constitution of the Caretaker Committee without the input or participation of the Leader of the PDP in Oyo State, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, placed him in a difficult position of conscience.
According to him, accepting the appointment under the prevailing circumstances would be inconsistent with his personal principles and political propriety.
He stressed his deep respect for Governor Makinde, describing him as a leader whose values, vision, and leadership direction he remains firmly committed to.
The PDP chieftain assured the National Working Committee of his continued loyalty to the party, adding that he remains ready to serve the PDP whenever such service aligns with established leadership structures and shared values.
Olaosebikan concluded by reiterating his respect for the party’s national leadership while maintaining his commitment to the unity and progress of the PDP in Oyo State.
