The Okeogun Traditional Council of Obas on Thursday, August 28, 2025, held a strategic meeting in Ogboro, Saki East Local Government Area of Oyo State, to deliberate on key issues affecting the region.
The meeting, hosted by the Onisanbo of Ogboro, Oba (Engr.) Kazeem Adio Adegboye, brought together traditional rulers from across Okeogun to strengthen unity and address pressing developmental challenges.
At the session, the council reaffirmed joint ownership of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho (FUNATO), which was recently inspected by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The institution, established by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025, is expected to serve as a hub for agricultural research, technological innovation, and human capital development in the region.
The monarchs also stressed the need to prioritize educational development, improve safety and welfare of residents, and foster stronger collaboration among traditional institutions. They highlighted the importance of tackling perceived marginalization of the region, raising possible solutions such as increased political representation and consideration of state creation.
According to the council, education and inclusive governance remain central to Okeogun’s sustainable growth, with FUNATO positioned as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation.
