As Nigerians mourn the sudden demise of the late former governor of Oyo state, Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, youths in Ogbomoso, his hometown, have concluded plans to hold a candle light procession for him.
The event which holds today, January 19, 2022, is expected to attract friends, family and supporters of the late political juggernaut, whose death left people across different divides devastated.
According to a notice by his first son, Hon Olamijuwonlo Alao, the event would takeoff at the Akalas’ residence, at 4pm.
The demise of the former chairman of Ogbomoso North local government last Wednesday, left both the young and old in the city and beyond stricken with grief.
Many across the country have lamented the death describing him as a man who touched several lives positively and left indelible mark in government.
Declaring support for the candle light procession Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum, OCYF, in a statement stated it would be part of the event, which is one of those lined up to pay last respect to the late politician.
“Considering the impact of Alao-Akala in our community, we realized he deserves a special respect, to this end the OCYF is calling on Ogbomoso youths to come out en mass on Wednesday, 19th of January, 2022 to accord him the honour,” OCYF noted.
The procession, expected to commence at 4pm, at Opadoyin Akala Lodge, will file through Takie, Sabo, LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Orita Naira, Oja’gbo, Ijeru, Arowomole, Oja Akande, Seminary and back home.
All participants are to appear in black.
