The agitation for completion of Ogbomoso-Oyo express road took another dimension on Thursday as thousands of residents of Ogbomoso converged to for interreligious prayer to seek divine intervention on the project
The prayer session which was coordinated by Ogbomoso Community Forum was held at Isale Randa, Blind centre road Ogbomoso
People of Christian and Islamic faith as well as traditional religion worshipers participated in the prayer session
Speaking at the event The chairman, Ogbomoso Community Forum, Rev. Dr Isreal Olaniyan said the prayer is in continuation of their agitation for the completion of the ongoing Oyo -Ogbomoso express road
Olaniyan who lamented the slow phase on the project said the old road has become death trap for people as many lives are being loss on the road daily “The number of lives this road has claim is more than the number of Boko Haram casualties, and we cannot continue to fold our arm watching our people dying on daily basis on the road.”
” We are appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari to take this road as a priority projects to be completed even before the expiration of his tenure in 2019. We know this is possible, the contractor handling the project is capable of completing the road in six months if enough fund is released and we are appealing to the government to please do the needful.”
The Prayer coordinator of OCF Bishop Oyetunji Abraham while announcing the purpose of gathering said the event is to remind the government on the need to complete the express road and to use prayer as a weapon to thwart the efforts of Agents of darkness causing delay on the projects
” We are aware that some forces are behind the delay of the projects they are collecting compensation from the Federal government and they believe if the project is completed their source of income will be blocked, but we believe that with prayers their evil hand will be removed .
Soun of Ogbomosoland Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade 111 lauded the genuine intention of the Ogbomoso patriots on the road and wish them the best
The monarch who was represented by Onijeru of Ijeru also lamented the poor condition of Ogbomoso -Oyo road and promise not to relent in his effort in reaching out to the appropriate authority for quick completion of the project
Chairman Ogbomoso Parapo home branch Saka Bello Aremole told Journalists that the Apex Socio -cultural organization in Ogbomoso has reached out to the Minister of works and other appropriate authorities on the projects
” When we get to the Minister he told is that we should go and talk to our National Assembly members and i am using this medium to appeal to our Federal lawmakers to please ensure something substantial is included in 2019 budget to hasten completion of the project before the end of Buhari’s administration”
Alfa Nasir Atanda, Chairman League of Imam and Alfas in Ogbomoso land expresses confidence in the ability of prayer to change thing, ‘ Coming together as one body to pray to almighty Allah on this road project is a good thing and i am optimistic that our prayers is already answered
Opeyemi Opeifa, Araba ifa in Ogbomoso also express optimism that the joint prayer will not only promote unity but also enhance development and growth of Ogbomoso land
He said ‘ While the Christians and Muslims are doing their own we are also taking necessary rites and sacrifices to appease to God on the road project and development of Ogbomosoland .
