  • The Nigerian Union of Journalists has frowns at the reign of impunity against Journalists in the Country and calls on the Federal Government to address the trend as a matter of urgency.

This was contained in a communique issued at the end of emmergency congress of the Oyo state chapter of the union held at Iyaganku

The Congress also calls on Private Media owners in Oyo State to allow their staff to unionize by registering with Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, and observed that failure of the practitioners to be members of the Union will continue to make them vulnerable to whims and caprices of oppressive proprietors/owners of such media houses.

The Council further notifies members on the existence of Ethics and disciplinary committee and readiness to carry out its functions to the letter.

The Council however urges members to welcome aspirants in the next National delegates Conference of the Union holding in Abeokuta, Ogun State with open mind to have a free and fair election
